Margaret August

Margaret August is a Two-Spirit, Coast Salish artist from shíshálh Nation. Margaret was born in the traditional unceded Lkwungen and WSÁNEĆ territories, now referred to as Victoria BC. Margaret’s work is often inspired by the messages they receive of healing through the land which mostly articulate themselves through encounters with animal medicine. Some of their artistic influences include renowned Coast Salish artist Susan Point, late Mark Preston (Tlingit), and LessLIE (Coast Salish). Margaret views art as a life long journey of learning -  to further develop their skills and continue to contribute to the rich tradition of Northwest Coast art.
