At Puzzle Lab, we constantly look for ways to align our practices with our values. Sustainability has always been one of our core beliefs, shaping the choices we make from design to delivery. Now, we’re excited to share a significant step forward in our journey: transitioning our puzzles to a new, more eco-friendly material.
Starting this month, our beloved puzzles will be laser-cut from locally-produced 6mm MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) instead of 5-ply poplar plywood imported from Spain. This change isn’t just a simple swap—it’s a meaningful leap toward reducing our environmental footprint and enhancing the overall quality of our puzzles.
Why the Change to MDF?
MDF is a standout material when it comes to sustainability. Unlike traditional plywood, MDF is made from the sawdust and wood shavings left over from other manufacturing processes. This means it recycles what would otherwise be waste, giving it new life in the form of beautifully crafted puzzles. By sourcing MDF locally, we also eliminate the emissions associated with shipping materials across the globe, slashing our carbon footprint and supporting local suppliers.
