Diana Durrand
Diana Durrand is a mixed media artist living in Chemainus, B.C. She graduated with honours from the University of Victoria's Fine Art department and has been a practicing artist ever since.
Recently Diana has been creating works combining fabric, acrylic and liquid plastic on canvas. The patterned fabrics have become a new palette for Diana. She has been strongly influenced Japanese Art, emphasizing the interplay between line, pattern and negative space. Animals are beginning to play a stronger role in her themes, often used with wit and humour.
Diana's work is in the permanent collection of the Canadian Museum of History, Hull, Quebec; The Canada Council Art Bank, Ottawa, Ontario and the International Quilt Museum, Lincoln, Nebraska; and in other national and local collections.
